LIVE REVIEW: TAKING BACK SUNDAY @ MANCHESTER RITZ, 12TH DECEMBER 2014

For personal reasons, I was really looking forward to this gig! My First time seeing headliners, TAKING BACK SUNDAY but unfortunately I was ever so slightly disappointed! But first, let's start with the good stuff!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/5cf/78206915/files/2015/01/img_0563-0.jpgBritish alternative-rock up-comers, MARMOZETS graced the stage as the main support for the night and there was no disappointment. The venue was packed with a good atmosphere and when the band exposed themselves onstage there were cheers all round. Opening with 'Born Young And Free', the band energetically, boldly and very loudly played through a seven-song setlist including popular tracks such as 'Captivate You' and 'Move, Shake, Hide'. The overall performance was fantastic and I'd certainly take the time to go see this band again. The sold-out venue twanged to cram more and more people in by the time the headliners were ready to come on stage. With a varied age range in the audience with lots of individuals mid to late 20s it was clear to see the long lasting effect of TAKING BACK SUNDAY

With an eighteen-song setlist ranging across all albums would surely be a pleaser to the audience. Opening with 'What's It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?' the atmosphere erupted with everyone singing along to the vocals with frontman Adam Lazzara. Throughout the performance the band played tracks off every single album ranging from their first release from 2002, 'Tell All Your Friends' all the way to 2014's 'Happiness Is'. Stand out songs for myself included 'Liar (It Takes One To Know One)', You're So Last Summer', 'Flicker, Fade' as well as the final two songs of the performance - Cute Without The E (Cut From The Team)' and 'MakeDamnSure'. The song selection was fantastic and pleased everyone. Now to why I was slightly disappointed..... I had high expectations of the band and when the frontman appeared drunks to some off vocals I was ever so slightly gutted! A well know, popular rock band that have been touring for well over a decade being a disappointment wasn't what I expected. Maybe I'm being slightly harsh as the band are ageing or maybe it was wrong of me to have high expectations? Either way, MARMOZETS were fantastic and I'd probably give TAKING BACK SUNDAY a second chance.
