2016 AND WHY IT'S BEEN MY FAVOURITE YEAR YET.

I can't believe we're another year down again! It seems like two minutes ago that I was writing down all my achievements of 2015 after a truly awful year and being positive about my achievements allowed me to thrive in 2016 an it has without a doubt been my favourite year yet....and here's why!

I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOME
This was a biggy! After commuting around 100 miles a day for work for around 6 months I finally decided to take the plunge and move to West Yorkshire! I bought my first home on my own at 22 and I couldn't be more proud of myself. After putting the deposit down in June I was finally moved into my new build in August and I've never felt more grown up. I miss home, my family and friends but this whole new wave of independence has boosted a lot of aspects in my life and I couldn't be happier where I am now.

I GOT A PROMOTION (AND I LOVE MY JOB)
So I started the year off sick due to a minor (luckily) stroke just before Christmas in 2015. In March, only a few months into my role I was promoted after working my butt of the second I could get back into work. I adore my job and the people I work with, I know I'm still in the early stages of my career but I feel confident in what I do and that's something I've always lacked. It's been a tough year in the work aspect but it's totally been worth it and I cannot wait to execute all my plans for 2017 with the most amazing team behind me in a nice new head office!

I STARTED MY MASTERS
This was something that I was debating doing for a long time. I want to excel in my career and quite frankly I really missed learning (yes, I'm a massive geek). I applied for a part time course at Leeds Beckett University studying for a MSc in Digital and Strategic Marketing and I was delighted when I got my place. Not going to lie, one semester down and it's been a massive struggle but it will be worth it in the end!

I TRAVELED
Likewise to 2015, I also did a fair bit of travelling in 2016 beginning with a trip across the pond in March. The primary purpose of the trip was to attend Self Help Festival in San Bernardino which was incredible in itself but what's the point in going all that way to visit one state?!I managed to throw in a trip to LA which included visits to Universal Studios and of course, Hollywood Boulevard (Bucket List tick!). We timed it perfectly for our trip to Universal Studios as it was the opening of Wizarding World of Harry Potter so I was completely in my element (for another year, how lucky am I?!). Following on from LA we took a flight down to Miami for some much needed relaxing beach days before we jetted North to New York for some busy days of cramming touristy things in! I did New York back in 2013 and I loved every second of it but this time around I was able to visit the 9/11 museum which was emotional but certainly worth a trip. I'd already done Rockefella and the Empire State so this time around we headed up to the top of the newly built World Trade Centre which was just nothing short of phenomenal. I also attended a show at Madison Square Garden which is another thing ticked off the bucket list and even better, it was to see WWE Live! I was literally in my element the whole time!

The next set of travels came in October when Ashton and myself won a blogging trip to Cyprus with On The Beach Holidays which was a paradise of relaxation for a whole week but you can read more about that here!

So, all in all I had a good year in terms of getting out of the country and I'm looking forward to some more trips in 2017!

30 GIGS, 2 FESTIVALS
Yes, okay this is possibly the norm for me now year on year but music is my true love and my passion (obviously, I write about it a hell of a lot!). In the space of a year I've flown across the pond to California for Self Help Festival and experienced my first ever Download Festival! From ridiculous hot, dry weather to streams of mud and torrential rain! I've also attended some of my favourite gigs this year including The Used, Neck Deep, Architects and so many more that I can't possibly list! Roll on more in 2017!

CITY GOT PROMOTED!
Obviously this was amazing even if it was overshadowed by our ridiculous owners who appear to know nothing about business and the treating of its customers! But it was a lovely weekend away with Papa Tys and another trip to Wembley added to the list! Back in the Premier League with many not so enthusiastic supporters! Hopefully 2017 will be the year of ALLAM OUT! #wishfulthinking

SPENT QUALITY TIME WITH MY BESTIES
This was much needed and it still is in 2017. From nights out to gigs and trips to Alton Towers and Home Farm, days and nights with my favourites are completely and utterly unbeatable. They've been there for me through the good times and especially the bad and I couldn't thank them enough for being who they are. I wouldn't change them for the world and I can't wait for a shed load of more memories to add to the collection in 2017.

I MIGHT HAVE MET 'THE ONE'
I'm not sure how much I believe in happily ever afters or if 'the one' does exist but I certainly feel like I might have met him. The highlighting factor of the year is of course meeting my better half, Gary, after seeing The Used back in February. Okay so it was a Tinder match because we were in the club on the same night but we hit it off straight away and after a couple of months of talking every day we had our first date on April 4th and now, nine months on, things couldn't be better. He spoils me rotten and most certainly makes me feel like I'm actually worth something. The only thing that is difficult is the distance but the 81.5 mile gap is so worth it. Here's to 2017 and hopefully the year that we can start living together as a family (with a puppy please).

2017 is looking to be another good yet hectic year but I can't bloody wait! Last year I said that I wouldn't count the days, I'd make the days count and that's exactly what I did and exactly what I intend to do for the following year and the rest of my life. Now, lets get the ball rolling!
